Free Temporary Dumpsters Available Across Evansville
Why Trash Pickup Has Been Impacted By Snow
The winter storm we recently endured has caused all kinds of problems, most of which were expected and have been resolved. For the most part, life has returned to normal, except when it comes to our trash. The massive amount of snow that fell has been plowed to the side of the road, which is great because we can drive again, but that plowed snow is now preventing the trash trucks from emptying our bins.
Who knew that overflowing garbage cans would be the lingering problem from this storm?
To help keep neighborhoods clean and stress levels low, the City of Evansville has teamed up with Republic Services to roll out temporary residential dumpsters, which are completely free to use.
These dumpsters are available for one week and are intended strictly for household trash. Republic Services will maintain and empty them as needed throughout the week to keep things moving smoothly.

Mayor Terry summed it up perfectly, saying this is a “simple, practical step” to help residents keep their neighborhoods clean while winter conditions limit what trash trucks can safely do. She also thanked Republic Services for stepping up quickly to make this option available.

Residents are encouraged to follow posted guidelines at each site and to be considerate when using the dumpsters so everyone can benefit throughout the week.
When Regular Trash Collection Could Resume
As the weather continues to improve (hopefully), the city will share updates on regular trash and recycling collection.
