Evansville Oil Change Center Hosting Fundraiser for 2 Residents Battling Breast Cancer
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and one Evansville business is hoping you'll jump in to help two Evansville residents win their fight against the disease.
According to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, it's estimated there will be 297,790 new cases of invasive breast cancer cases among women in the U.S. and 43,170 breast cancer-related deaths in 2023. While there is no current data breaking down the exact number of current cases in the Evansville area, we know the disease has impacted thousands of us either directly through a personal diagnosis or indirectly through a diagnosis of someone we know. Regardless of which one of those categories you fall under, we all know the cost of treatments can rise quickly causing a major financial burden on patients and their families, which is why a fundraiser like the one Lucas Oil Center will be hosting on October 27th through 29th can make a huge difference.
Lucas Oil Center Hosting Breast Cancer Giveback
The owners of both Lucas Oil Centers in Evansville have hosted Breast Cancer Givebacks every October for years. Each year, they select two residents currently battling breast cancer to be the recipients of the funds they raise through the event. This year, those two fighters are Ashlynn Racine of Evansville and Shannon Lewis from Sebree, KY.
Ashlynn was diagnosed with breast cancer with metastasis to her lymph nodes in June 2023 after a routine exam and mammogram at the age of 40 detected an abnormality.
Shannon was diagnosed with HER2+ breast cancer in May of this year. She has been through six rounds of chemotherapy treatments to date and will undergo surgery along with radiation.
During the fundraising event, Lucas Oil Center will donate 20% of the proceeds from all car washes to both Ashlynn and Shannon. On Saturday, October 28, 20% of all oil changes at both locations will be donated. Plus, on that Sunday, October 29th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, the east side location will host a Trunk or Treat Cruise-In with all proceeds from that event being donated to both women.
The Trunk-or-Treat is free for the public to attend and will feature awards for participating vehicles in the following categories:
- Best Vehicle
- Best Decorations
- Owner's Choice
- People's Choice
There is a $20 registration fee for any vehicle wanting to be a part of the Trunk-or-Treat will all fees being donated to Ashlynn and Shannon.
Lucas Oil is also looking for other businesses interested in sponsoring the event. If you own or work for a company that's interested in participating, contact Lucas Oil Center at 812-402-5000 or message them on Facebook.
