Ask a Cop: Evansville, Indiana Police Officers Ready to Answer Your Questions
We recently had the opportunity to speak to a group of Public Information Officers from across the country about our relationship with the local police departments.
Yes, other law enforcement agencies joined our panel to hear about how radio has helped bring our police officers closer to the community. We have Special Projects Coordinator Officer Taylor Merriss in the studio every week, but our ties with the local police departments go deeper than that.
Police are People Too
One of the ways that we help bring residents closer to the men and women that protect them every day is to bring out their personalities. We try to have fun with them on the air, so when you meet them in person, you might have something in common to chat about.
Community Charities
Guns & Hoses began many years ago with an idea from a radio personality with Townsquare Media and the Evansville Police Department. Evansville Police Chief Billy Bolin credited radio with the event's huge growth.
Every year our radio station partner with 911 Gives Hope for a three-day toy drive that is manned around the clock by police officers and first responders.
Of course, we love promoting anything to do with Cops Connecting with Kids, because that is such an important program. A few years ago we all came together to build the all-inclusive playground we know as Mickey's Kingdom.
Having Fun
Did I mention that we like to really bring out the personalities of our local police officers? Yes, they protect and serve, and sometimes we get them to entertain, too.
