Evansville has been honored as Indiana's latest Clean Community by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM). This significant achievement was celebrated during a ceremony at the city’s Sunrise Pump Station on Wednesday, where Mayor Stephanie Terry accepted a Clean Community sign and flag from IDEM Commissioner Brian Rockensuess.

Mayor Stephanie Terry's Commitment to Sustainability
“We are working hard to improve Evansville’s environmental quality and sustainability, and are excited to be recognized as a Clean Community by IDEM for those efforts,” Terry said. “This designation acknowledges the efforts we have made so far to move toward environmental sustainability and climate resiliency, but it also reminds us of all that there still is to do. We are just getting started.”

Evansville Joins Elite Clean Community Group
Evansville becomes the ninth municipality in Indiana to earn the Clean Community designation, joining cities like Richmond, Merrillville, Zionsville, Fishers, Brown County, Beech Grove, Fortville, and New Chicago. Notably, Evansville is the largest city by population among these communities.
