Former Evansville Old Chicago Building Has Room to House Two Businesses Instead of One
On Evansville's east side sits a vacant building that used to be Old Chicago (RIP old friend). It was announced that IHOP would be moving into the vacant building, but it turns out with the way they're renovating the building, the space will actually allow for two occupants. Here's what Evansville 411 had to say about the renovation:
Evansville Development UPDATE: Interior and exterior renovations have started on the former Old Chicago restaurant building in Evansville. The building will be subdivided to include IHOP and one additional restaurant or business.Location: 6550 E Lloyd ExpresswayTentative Opening: Summer 2022Once the move is complete for IHOP, they will close their location at 601 N Burkhardt Road. The new IHOP will be located between the future Bubba's 33 restaurant location (under construction) and Red Robin Gourmet Burgers.
This leaves so many options open for what can occupy that space. It's such a great location too, located just off the Lloyd Expressway on the east side. It's a busy area full of hustle and bustle, so I have no doubt that the location would be great for any business. I'm excited to see who they get to fill the space.
Personally, my dream is that somehow, someway we'll find a way to bring Old Chicago back to Evansville (those delicious buffalo chicken rolls and double deckeroni pizza live in my dreams), but since I'm not sure how realistic that dream is I'll have to go to Vincennes to get my OC fix. I just had many good times with friends at Old Chicago, since they were open late, and served good food, it was a place we frequented.
A big thank you to Evansville 411 for always keeping the community updated about Evansville developments!
