I just returned home from a two week trip to Africa.  Kenya, to be exact.  I have always wanted to experience a safari and July is the perfect time to do that.  See, July marks the start of the annual wildebeest migration from the Serengeti in Tanzania to Masai Mara in southwestern Kenya.  The migration is called "The Greatest Wildlife Spectacle on Earth" and it certainly lived up to its billing.

But, before Kevin and I visited Masai Mara, we embarked on a journey through three other national parks within driving distance of Nairobi.

Our first stop was Amboseli National Park, which is renowned for its rich population of elephants, which you can literally photograph with Mt. Kilimanjaro in the background.  It's an absolutely beautiful national park and we were completely overwhelmed by the experience as soon as we drove through the gates with Charles, our incredible guide from Mufasa Tours and Travel.

I probably took a hundred photos inside Amboseli, but I put together 25 of my absolute favorites.  And, yes!  We were as close to the animals as it seems.

25 Stunning Wildlife Photos from Amboseli National Park in Kenya

For our summer vacation, Kevin and I traveled to Africa for a safari in Kenya. Our first stop was Amboseli National Park, which is world renowned for its impressive population of elephants. And the park delivered. Not only did we see an incredible amount of elephant families, we saw giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, monkeys and, yes, a lion! Here are some of our favorite photos from our visit.

Africa blew me away.  On so many levels.  I have traveled a lot of places, but no adventure has come close to this.  I have so many more photos and stories to share from our trip.

Tomorrow, I will be sharing photos of cats.  Big cats.  While Amboseli is home to a dense population of elephants, the Masai Mara has the highest density of lions in the world.  And we saw a bunch of them.  Our photos are INSANE!  We were literally within arm's length of the greatest predators in the Mara.
