Do You Know Which Type Of Potato Is Best For Specific Dishes?
They say you learn something new every day, and today I learned that I have been using potatoes wrong this whole time.
Potatoes have to be my favorite side dish of all time. Depending on how they are made, I might even use them as the main course of the meal. We all know that there are an endless amount of ways that you can make potatoes. I feel like you could almost go on a rant with the different ways to cook potatoes much like Bubba did with shrimp in "Forrest Gump". The big question here is do you know what type of potato you should really be using?
I'll be honest, I never really gave it much thought in the past. I'd just go to the store and grab a sack of potatoes from the bin in the produce section. Little did I know, there are various types of potatoes in that section for a reason. Certain types of potatoes work best in specific dishes. For example, do you know what type of potato to use for potato salad? What about making french fries? Everyone makes mashed potatoes, but do you know which type of potato you should really be using when making that classic side dish?
If the answer to any of those questions is "no", you're not alone. As I said, I just found out myself. It will be extremely beneficial to know these things if you love potatoes as much as I do. That's why I put together a list of various potatoes and what they work best for. Hopefully, this comes in handy for you in the near future!
