Castle HS Show Choirs Heading to Indy for State Competition!
Indiana State School Music Association announced Sunday that both Castle High School Show Choirs - the Knight Sensations and the Knightingales will compete in this Saturday's State Competition!
The Castle Knight Sensations (women/men) will perform in the mixed division at 7:30 pm Central/8:30 pm Eastern. The Knightingales (all women) will perform earlier at 10:45 am Central/ 11:45 am Eastern on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at North Central High School in Indianapolis.
Each group will compete against 8 other large schools in the state including: Warren Central, Franklin Central, Ben Davis, Brownsburg, Pike, Noblesville, North Central, Lawrence Central, and Anderson.
Lots of hard work goes into performing in show choir. Each student must sing and dance to music in a professionally choreographed show. Some of the music KG will perform to include: "Starting Here, Starting Now" by Barbra Streisand, "Hot Like Wow-Nadia Oh"/"Hot Stuff" by Donna Summer. KS will perform "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen, "The Other Side" by Bruno Mars, and more. They start early in the school year with fundraising for costumes and trips to Indy for competitions. My daughter, Jaclyn (Wormsbaker), performed with KG and KS when she attended CHS and I remember how hard she worked after school to get the dance moves correct and all the while trying to sing on pitch!
Congratulations to all the students in the Castle HS Show Choirs and also to Castle HS Choir Director, Brian Adcock and Assistant Director, Jenny Kinney! Rob DiComandrea is the show designer and choreographer who worked hundreds of hours with all the students. It's a great honor representing southwestern Indiana! We wish all of them the best of luck this Saturday in State Competition! Please show your support! Good Luck Castle HS Show Choirs! #supporttheartsinschool #showchoirs #shiningstars
