As you keep listening to our St. Jude Radiothon (and yes...I’m counting on you sticking with us), you’re going to hear some of the sweetest voices ever reading something called the “ABCs of Cancer.” If you’ve ever stopped and thought, “Okay, what exactly is that?” - let me fill you in.

What Is The ABCs Of Cancer Display

One of the most powerful and popular displays at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis is a wall featuring the ABCs of Cancer. It’s not something written by doctors or researchers. It’s not a brochure. It’s art – created by the real experts on childhood cancer: the kids themselves.

Each letter of the alphabet represents a word that connects to their journey. From A to Z, these pieces reflect what cancer has meant in their lives – the hard days, the brave moments, the hope, the humor, and the strength they didn’t even know they had. And honestly, who better to explain what cancer feels like than the kids who are fighting it?

Why Seeing St. Jude In Person Changes You

If you ever get the chance to visit the St. Jude campus in Memphis, I highly recommend it. It’s only a few hours from Evansville, and I promise you – it WILL change you. You won’t listen to our radiothon the same way again. Seeing that wall in person hits differently. In the meantime, until you're able to make it down to Memphis, check out the virtual St. Jude tour below - it's pretty neat!

Experience The ABCs of Cancer Without Leaving Home

But I know a road trip isn’t in the cards for everyone. So, we’re bringing a little piece of St. Jude to you. Take a few minutes to scroll through these images and read the ABCs for yourself. Fair warning: they’re going to hit you right in the feels. You’ll smile. You might tear up. And you’ll definitely be reminded why this matters so much.

The ABC's of Cancer Created By St. Jude Patients

The ABCs of Cancer is one of the most amazing parts of the hospital. It is a wall solely made up of the 26 letters of the alphabet and designed by patients at St. Jude.
