10 of the Most Ridiculous 911 Calls Posted by EvansvilleWatch
Did you know that most 9-1-1 operators can only handle around three years of the job? It is a very demanding job that requires the ability to multitask under very stressful conditions, and a lot of patience. Sometimes that patience is used to deal with complaints that aren't really emergencies. In fact, some of them are just plain ridiculous.
I know all of this first-hand. I worked as a 9-1-1 Dispatcher in Gibson County back in the early 2000s. Some days it seemed like the phone never stopped ringing. We answered the office line and 911 calls. It is really important to recognize a true emergency, as opposed to what you think is an emergency.
I am at a stress level 20 in this pic. Sidenote - What is happening with my bangs?
Examples of 911 Calls that Really Aren't

- Fireworks (Unless your house is on fire)

- Requesting an Officer to make your child behave (Or get ready for school) True story.
Our friends at EvansvilleWatch do an amazing job of keeping up with the chaos on the police scanner. Anytime I hear sirens, I immediately check their Facebook page to see what's going on. Like last weekend, when the police chase that began in Warrick county and ended up near Henderson, they were on top of it with updates.
