As the old saying goes, "everyone has a story to tell," whether it's long or short, funny or sad, terrifying or inspirational. Whatever your story, Bethel United Church of Christ is hoping you'll share it with others during their upcoming, "Your Story" event on Thursday, January 25th.

Taking place from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at The Pagoda Visitor's Center next to the Evansville Museum of Arts and Science on Riverside Drive downtown, the purpose of the event is to feature individuals from all walks of life throughout our community (like you) sharing their stories of facing challenges and how they dealt, or deal with them. The intention being that someone listening may have a similar challenge they're struggling to conquer, and hearing how you managed it could help them figure it out.

Your story could be about a variety of topics, a New Year’s resolution, a major life change, a risk you took, something completely unexpected, or something you face every day. It doesn't even need to have a happy ending. If you failed at the challenge, or you're still struggling to overcome whatever it may be you're facing, those stories are encouraged as well.

Organizers ask the stories stay between five and seven minutes in length, and have provided a list of guidelines to help you craft yours.

Having a story to tell is not a requirement to attending. If you're simply looking for an answer to an issue you're facing, or you just want to hear what people have to say, make plans to attend. Admission is free, however Bethel Church is encouraging everyone to make a $5.00 donation at the door which will go to Southwestern Behavioral Healthcare as they work to confront the opioid epidemic in the Tristate.

The evening will feature free appetizers, a cash bar, and a live performance by local musician, Monte Skelton. Katy Adams from Southwestern Behavioral Healthcare will also speak about addiction in our community, and the services the Center offers for individuals.
