What Does The 911 Gives Hope Toy Drive Look Like in a Pandemic?
For the past 11 years, Townsquare Media Radio Stations have partnered with 911 Gives Hope for a toy drive. It began in a tiny tent, and has grown through the years. The 12th annual toy drive is happening now, but it's different than years past, due to COVID-19.
The cause remains the same. We are filling a giant trailer from Bluegrass Transport with new toys for local children in area hospitals. Volunteers are on hand to take your new unwrapped toy donations at the Eastside Walmart until Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 6:00 P.M. You can also drop off cash and the volunteers will purchase toys. All of the money donated is used to buy toys. Everything has been donated to the cause including: T-R-U Event Rentals for the broadcast tent and chairs, WoW! provides the Wifi, Hydro Max provides the very important port-a-potty, and the donation bins are from Fibertech.
We are also collecting toys in Henderson with our friends at Henderson Chevy. They have been a huge part of the 911 Gives Hope Toy Drive since day one.
Unfortunately, Santa was not able to make it to the toy drive this year. We need to keep the big guy healthy. There are limited volunteers on hand, and everyone is wearing a mask and using every precaution to stay healthy.
