Warrick County CASA in Urgent Need of Cleaning Supplies

Warrick County CASA needs your help providing household cleaning supplies to the families they serve.

What Does Warrick County CASA Do?

CASA is a nationwide organization that stands for Court Approved Special Advocates. It was founded 45 years ago in 1977 by Superior Court Judge, David Soukup in Seattle, Washington after he became "concerned about making drastic decisions with insufficient information" in cases involving abused or neglected children who had no parent or guardian qualified to speak on their best interests in the courtroom. Judge Soukup created the idea of everyday citizen volunteers who would work closely with each child to determine what exactly would be the best outcome for them in their respective cases and fight for them to receive that outcome in court.

In the over four decades since, CASA has expanded to 951 state and local programs nationwide. According to Warrick County CASA, 88 of the 92 counties in the state of Indiana have CASA programs.

How to Donate Cleaning Supplies to Warrick County CASA

In addition to providing a voice for the children and families they serve, the organization also helps those families who may be struggling by providing a pantry full of everyday essentials they can have until they can get back on their feet. That includes home cleaning supplies, which the organization says it is currently out of.

In a recent post on its Facebook page, representatives say they have an urgent need for the following items:

• Trash bags
• Paper towels
• Laundry detergent
• Dryer sheets
• Dish soap
• All-purpose cleaning spray
• Dusting spray
• Window cleaner
• Toilet cleaner
• Toilet paper
• Hand soap

If you'd like to help, you can drop off any of the items listed above at the Warrick County CASA office at 224 W. Main St. in Boonville (2nd Floor of the Old National Bank), or order the items from their Amazon wish list and have them shipped directly to their office.
