Indiana’s Oldest Mall Isn’t Dead: Thrift Furniture Warehouse Opens Soon at Washington Square Mall
I know that most people believe that Washington Square Mall is a 'Dead Mall', and there's no hope of reviving it. But I have some exciting proof that will show you how the Evansville Rescue Mission is changing that stigma.
'The Taj Mahal of Thrift Stores' Can Be Found in Washington Square Mall
Not all is 'Dead' at Evansville's Washington Square Mall. Your Evansville Rescue Mission relocated its Thrift Store to the mall and then opened the Mission Grounds Coffee Shop. So, we want to help bring more businesses back to the mall. That's a huge step toward revitalizing Indiana's first enclosed mall.
More Proof that Indiana's Oldest Mall Isn't Dead
We have the opportunity to visit Mission Grounds Coffee every month, and it is one of the nicest coffee shops in Evansville. Did I mention that it is inside Washington Square Mall?
Thrift Store Furniture Warehouse and Chapel Revive Washington Square Mall
I have more exciting news to share with you about a brand-new shopping experience at Washington Square Mall. Get ready to thrift furniture at 'The Thrift Store Furniture Warehouse' in Washington Square Mall. Just like their other shops, all of the proceeds stay locally to assist the Evansville Rescue Mission with providing food clothes, shelter, and programming to their clients and guests.
I reached out to the President/CEO of Evansville Rescue Mission, Tracy Gorman, to find out more about the space. It's been vacant for so long that he wasn't sure what was there before.

It’s amazing what a little paint on the walls, and some new carpeting will do to revive a space, isn’t it?!
