The 22nd Annual Ferdinand Christkindlmarkt
Brace yourself: Christmas is only 2 months away! Be sure to visit the Ferdinand Christkindlmarkt on Nov. 16th & 17th throughout the town of Ferdinand.
What is Christkindlmarkt?
In Germany, Christmas wares and gifts are sold in the festival-style setting of Christkindlmarkt. During the weeks of Advent, toy makers, basket weavers, wood carvers, candle makers and other artisans set up booths in front of the local church, where browsers make their selections. The custom began in the 14th century and continues today in the charming "Bavarian" village of Ferdinand, Indiana.
This is one of my favorite places to visit for hand-crafted Christmas items plus great food, treats, live entertainment and wines. The Ferdinand Christkindlmarkt will feature over 200 decorated booths in an Olde World setting with free shuttle service to drop you off at six different market sites.
The times of the event are: Notice: if you live in the Central Time zone, the time in Ferdinand is Eastern time.
- Saturday, November 16 - 9 am - 5 pm (Eastern time)
- Sunday, November 17 - 10 am - 4 pm (Eastern time)
Seriously, this is the real deal for authentic Bavarian specialty foods! Enjoy live Glockenspeil, continuous entertainment at the Musik Cafe, a free concert with the Celebration Singers, Marionette Theater with multiple showtimes, children's crafts, Monastery Tours and more!
