Despite confirmation from either side, multiple reports, citing an initial report from VICE Sports, say that Evansville-native, Don Mattingly, one week after mutually parting ways with the Los Angeles Dodgers, has an agreement in place to become the next manager of the Miami Marlins.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports the deal is for four years, however the terms have been disclosed at this time.

Mattingly is coming off a five year stint as the skipper of a Los Angeles Dodgers team that regularly sat atop the league in the amount of salary they paid to get big name players in hopes of winning a championship.

After a three straight division titles, with one trip to the NLCS over that time period, and no World Series titles, both the team and Mattingly felt it was in the best interest of everyone involved if they went in different directions. Not surprisingly, it didn't take long for Evansville's favorite son to find work.

Reports were coming out as early as September that Marlins owner, Jeffrey Loria was hoping to land Mattingly if things didn't work out in L.A. The two have reportedly known each other for years as Loria is a New York resident, and we all know Mattingly's history in the Big Apple.

An official announcement on the deal, which will make Mattingly the fourth Marlins manager since 2012, is expected to be made after the conclusion of the World Series so not to take focus away from baseball's biggest stage.
