SWAT Challange Is A Fun Upgrade From Typical 5k Run
The 4th Annual SWAT Challange was this Saturday. The obstacle race specifically benefits the EPD Foundation providing additional tactical training for the SWAT Team.
The SWAT Challange provides a much-needed upgrade from the run-of-the-mill 5k.
My friend Laura and I had a blast! This was her second time running the race and my first. We laughed hard and worked our buns off during the race.
EPD Officer Philip Smith was on the mic which created a fun environment.
The first obstacle was crawling under a Humvee. (Watch your head!)
We ran over what seemed like a million barricades.
I learned quickly how not to clear the obstacle. (Do not slam your shin into it.) I have a very serious injury. lol
Here are Laura and I on the bars. Those ropes were fun to wrangle!
We ran through a bus, climbed over walls and flipped tires. The most challenging obstacle was running with the sandbag to the top of the parking garage. I regretted getting the heavy bag right around level 4.
It was a great time and we hung out with our friends after the race. I recommend this race and I can't wait to bring my son next year. I was happy to see so many kids racing. One of them almost beat me but I wasn't having it.
I came in 1st in my division and 2nd in my heat because my friend Brendon cheated by running really fast past me and winning. (wow, I am a sore loser lol!)
