Meet the people who keep us safe

Local police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and other first responders will be on hand to chat, answer questions, and showcase some of the tools and vehicles they use every day. It’s a chance to see the human side of public service, helping to build trust and transparency between law enforcement and the people they protect.

Strengthening community spirit

Events like National Night Out help revive a sense of unity that sometimes feels lost in the hustle of daily life. By gathering in person and spending time with our neighbors, we remind ourselves that a strong community starts with real connections.

The History of National Night Out

The first National Night Out event took place in Philadelphia in 1984. The purpose was (and still is) to give residents in communities across the country an opportunity to meet with first responders who help keep them safe day in and day out all year long. Now, 40 years later, National Night Out has expanded to cities and towns in all 50 states, as well as "U.S. territories and military bases worldwide," according to the official National Night Out website.
