Original article:

Evansville's P-47 Foundation announced that the historical plane will be flying into Evansville on Thursday October 15th. According to the Evansville P-47 Foundation the world-famous P47 Thunderbolt Tarheel Hal will be flying into Evansville around 1PM and will even do a flyover of the city. They say weather permitting it will fly from the southwest and do 4 loops over Evansville while passing over Dress Plaza near the LST.  The flight map is in the Facebook post linked here, and pictured below.

According to a comment from the Evansville P-47 Foundation Facebook page here's what will happen once the plane lands in Evansville:

the plan is to “pickle” the plane. This is the equivalent to mothballing a car. So it will not fly in the near future but it’s airworthiness won’t be ruined. It is very expensive to maintain and insure an aircraft of this age and we want to ensure it doesn’t become too expensive to keep in its hometown of Evansville!

The plane will be on display at the Evansville Wartime Museum. You can follow their Facebook page here, to keep up to date on the plane's journey.

Did you hear that Evansville is getting a P-47? It will be arriving THIS THURSDAY! Make sure to see it fly as this could...
