Back in 2015, I made a decision to begin a healthy journey with Profile by Sanford. I had an enormous amount of stress in my life at that time, which equaled to a lot of overeating and not taking care of myself. I was not interested in a diet or some sort of program that required pills. With Profile, I learned portion size, and how important it is to get enough sleep and drink enough water. My coaching sessions were eye-opening.

I really thought that I had some idea about how to eat healthy and enjoy my favorite foods in moderation. Turns out, a sleeve of cookies or box of mac & cheese isn't a serving — even if it's the only thing I had eaten that day. I learned how to fuel my body and made a very positive change in my life. I hit my goal and stayed comfortably in my target for over a year.

Flash forward to January. I took on more responsibility at work and started working out less. When my mom passed away in March, the stress consumed me. I threw myself into work. All of my healthy habits that I had learned with Profile went by the wayside. By the time I got home from work, I would order takeout, and then go to sleep. This cycle continued for about four months. I didn't feel well, and my energy was zapped. My clothes didn't fit anymore and my confidence in my appearance was going down.

I knew what I needed to do to get back to my healthy weight. I had to be in the right head space and get motivated to put in the effort. Once I was, I knew that I needed to go back to the program that I started my healthy journey with. The whole concept behind Profile by Sanford is that it is not a diet. It is a healthy journey that's different for everyone. Sometimes, life happens and you need support to get back on track and that's OK!

I started back with Profile in September and so far, I've lost 22 pounds. But it's not just about the weight, it's about being healthy. I can track my BMI, body fat, hydration, bone density and muscle. I've lost 5.79% of my body fat, and that is making a huge difference in the way clothes fit.

I meet with my Profile coach, Lee, once a week. We celebrate victories and work on little goals, planning for every situation that I have on the calendar. Right now, my calendar is filling up with potlucks and holiday parties. It is possible to attend events that have cookies and mixed drinks, as long as I plan ahead and choose the healthier options. Sometimes this means eating before I go out or bringing my own snack with me.

Cookies are one of my favorite things to snack on. I can use one of my meal shakes and create yummy cookies. You can use any flavor of protein shake, chocolate is my go-to.
