Justin Bieber Breaks Down During One Love Manchester Set
Justin Bieber was moved to tears yesterday (June 4) while remembering the victims of the May 22 bombings at Ariana Grande's concert in Manchester, England, which killed more than 20 and left dozens more injured.
Bieber, who performed as part of the subsequent One Love Manchester show, which benefited the victims of the attack and their families, addressed the crowd after performances of "Love Yourself" and "Cold Water." He told crowds that they should never give in to terror and intimidation, and told them to trust in the good in the world.
“I’m not going to let go of hope. I’m not going to let go of love. I’m not going to let go of God," he said. "Put your hand up if you’re not going to let go.”
“God is good in the midst of the darkness, God is good in the midst of the evil, God is in the midst no matter what’s happening in the world. God is in the midst and he loves you and he’s here for you," he added. "I just to take this moment to honor those who were lost, the people that were taken — we love you so much.”
The show, which also featured Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and more of pop's biggest acts, supported the Red Cross’ Manchester Emergency Fund, and raised more than $3 million, according to The Fader.
