A Legend Came to Town

After more than fifty years of sold out tours, chart topping hits, and unforgettable anthems, Journey hit the road for one last run across North America and Evansville was on that list. Not only was Evansville on the list of their tour but they MADE Evansville unforgettable during their tour. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers brought their Final Frontier Tour to the Ford Center on June 17 as part of an all new stage production celebrating their legacy, their love, and the fans who made it all possible.

And Evansville absolutely showed up. It wasn't a sold out show but the house was packed that's for sure.

Then This Happened

In the middle of the show, right there on the Ford Center stage, Journey pulled out an Evansville Thunderbolts jersey and put it on. The crowd lost it. Because that is exactly the kind of moment that makes you realize your city is not just a tour stop. It is a community that artists actually feel when they walk through the door.

Evansville Has Been Having a Moment

And here is the thing. Journey is not the only one who felt it this year. Bailey Zimmerman came through Evansville and also put on a Thunderbolts jersey during his show. Hardy did the same thing. Three major acts. Three Thunderbolts jerseys. And I am sure I am forgetting some. But this is not a coincidence. That is Evansville making an impression on every artist that comes here and that says everything about this city.

Why It Matters

Evansville keeps showing up on major tour routes and the artists keep giving it right back. When performers take the time to rep the local team in the middle of their set it means they felt the energy in that building. And if you were there for any of these shows you already know exactly what that energy feels like.

This city is special. And apparently the rest of the world is starting to figure that out too. 🎸💜
