Crafting Giant Joann Fabrics Announces Nationwide Closure
As soon as we hear about a business declaring bankruptcy, we just assume that the next announcement will be that they are closing forever. Chapter 11 allows a company time to restructure and follow a plan so that that can stay in business. Joann Crafts and Fabrics has filed for bankruptcy twice, and unfortunately, it was not enough to save the business.
The Evansville, Indiana location was originally slated to remain open. Now the company has made the difficult decision to close all locations after 82 years in business.

All Joann Fabrics Locations Set to Close in 2025
A lot can change in a month. On January 15, 2025, Joann Fabrics sent a press release from Michael Prendergast, Interim Chief Executive Officer of JOANN:
“On behalf of the Board and leadership, I want to thank the thousands of JOANN Team Members across the nation for their dedication to our customers and mission, especially in light of everything our company has gone through in recent years. We remain committed to continuing to support them and serving our customers – the sewists, quilters, crocheters, crafters, and other creative enthusiasts we have served for more than 80 years – during the process.”
