Vicki Lawrence Brings Mama To Owensboro This January
About a month ago, I stumbled across some exciting news that iconic TV star Vicki Lawrence is hitting the road for a 'two-woman' show! Lawrence, who starred as Thelma Harper on the hilarious sitcom Mama's Family, is taking 'Mama' on the road early next year.
I recently wrote a story about the tour's January 16th, 2026 stop at The Paramount Theatre in Anderson, Indiana.

Today, there's exciting news from the RiverPark Center in downtown Owensboro. Vicki Lawrence is bringing that same show here just four days later!
VICKI LAWRENCE & THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW
Lawrence, of course, was "part of the legendary cast of The Carol Burnett Show, where she created the role of Thelma Harper ("Mama")."

Mama's Family made its debut back in 1983. It was a wildly successful spin-off inspired by characters created for a recurring Carol Burnett Show sketch called "The Family". The characters were so rich and well-defined that the spin-off lasted six seasons and 130 hilarious episodes.
I fell down the YouTube rabbit hole recently and discovered a collection of hysterical outtakes from it. The outtakes star TV legends- Vicki Lawrence, Carol Burnett, and the equally brilliant Betty White and Rue McClanahan (before their roles in The Golden Girls).
VICKI LAWRENCE "THE NIGHT THE LIGHTS WENT OUT IN GEORGIA"
Of course, true Vicki fans will also remember this! Way back in 1973, she sang the original version of the song "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia." Vicki's version, which predates Reba's version by nearly twenty years, climbed all the way to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
VICKI LAWRENCE AT RIVERPARK
Vicki Lawrence and Mama: A Two-Woman Show, which is set for Tuesday, January 20th at 6:30pm, promises 'brand new material with a modern twist.' Lawrence says, "I think people will get a kick out of the things Mama has an opinion about. Where Mama is concerned, expect the unexpected."
Vicki goes on to say, "The show is a mixture of stand-up comedy, music and my observations about real life."
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, October 10th. Ticket prices are $42, $55, $75, and a limited number of gold circle seats for just $95 (plus taxes and fees). Tickets will be available at the RiverPark Center Box Office (270-687-2770) and at Ticketmaster.com.
