Back to School Brings Back So Many Memories

Today is the first day of school for many Tri-State students, and over the next few weeks, kids across the area will be saying goodbye to summer and hello to early mornings, math homework, and seeing friends on a regular basis again.

Our School Shopping Looked a Little Different This Year

Usually, I take my daughter out school shopping in the weeks before school starts, but this year we had a few snafus. Our county fair was the second week of July, and that is always all-consuming. Then we take a week to recover from fair. The week after that, we had a death in the family, so that took up two weekends that are usually reserved for school shopping. Add in schools starting earlier this year to accommodate the new week-long fall break, and we just ran out of time.

Since my daughter is a teenager, she's pretty savvy when it comes to online shopping. So I (gasp) handed over my credit card and told her to pick out her school supplies and some clothes. Everything showed up right at our front door.

Honestly, it was the least stressful school shopping experience we've ever had. I'm just a little afraid to look at the final total.
