It's sad how bad things have gotten in our state regarding crime. There seems to be a new type of scam popping up every day. You must always be on guard because someone is trying to rip you off. These thieves have no rules or boundaries. They are willing to do whatever it takes to steal your money.

In the ever-growing world of scams, the latest in Illinois involves puppies. Here's how it works. The scammer posts a fake ad for puppies for sale on the internet. Usually, on a marketplace-type website. He convinces the interested party the dogs are in high demand and going fast. The suspect explains to the victim that if they don't hurry it will be too late. The buyer then transfers money to the seller for a deposit to hold one of the pets. The animal is never received.

Broken-Hearted Scam Victims In Illinois

I believe this is a pretty low thing to do because you're messing with someone's emotions. Many times the puppies are being purchased for a child. When they don't receive one, they end up brokenhearted. Other victims are looking for some companionship which never comes. It's just really sad.

According to patch.com,

 A 41-year-old Round Lake man faces felony charges for allegations he ran an online puppy scam, posting advertisements and collecting money from buyers who never received their pups.

 

As with any business transaction, I urge consumers to research the seller, request recommendations and to refrain from purchasing a pet without seeing it in person.
