What You Need to Know Before You Donate

To donate, you must feel well on the day of your appointment and meet basic health criteria. Stay home if you have a fever, a cough-producing phlegm, or are finishing antibiotic treatment. Whole blood donations can be made every 56 days, up to six times a year, and donors must be at least 16 years old in most states.
