In what is hopefully not a foreshadowing of things to come this offseason, Indiana announced on Tuesday that forward Devin Davis has been suspended indefinitely following his citation for marijuana possession on-campus Monday evening.

According to Mike Miller of the Bloomington Herald-Times, police responded to a call around 8pm Monday night reporting the smell of marijuana coming from the second floor of the residence hall. Upon arrival, they detected the reported odor and were allowed into the room by someone inside. After searching the room, they found a small amount of marijuana (less than 30 grams) inside a backpack belonging to Davis.

For those that don't recall, Davis was the player who spent 19 days in the hospital for a fractured skull after being hit by a car driven by teammate Emmit Holt last year. It was one of many off the court issues that led many to question if Coach Tom Crean had a strong enough grip on his program.

Although not yet cleared to play, Davis dressed for the team's final game of the year versus Michigan State, and still has three years of eligibility left. Whether or not he gets the chance to play them at IU is yet to be determined.

It should also be noted, Davis' teammate, Hanner Mosquera-Perea was also present when police searched the room, however he was not cited like Davis.

According to a statement released by the University, courtesy of Alex Bozich at Inside the Hall.com, they are aware of Mosquera-Perea's presence and that he "was not charged by IUPD." But that doesn't mean he's in clear as they continued to say, "Mosquera-Perea’s role, if any, will also be reviewed as part of this matter.”

Let's hope for the program's sake, this is an isolated incident, and not an indication of what's to come.
