Former Indiana Hoops Star Can’t Fit in the Car He Won on The Price Is Right
Indiana basketball fans don't like being reminded of this, and who can blame them? But it has been 21 years since the Hoosiers made it to the Final Four. And they actually made it all the way to the title game before falling to Maryland.
THE INDIANA HOOSIERS' MAGICAL 2002 POST-SEASON
I bring this up because one of the key pieces of that 2001-2002 team was forward Jared Jeffries, who averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds per game that season. I doubt Indiana would've had as a deep run as they enjoyed without him.
By the way, it's nice to see another Hoosier legend, A.J. Guyton, conducting that interview.
You know, as a Kentucky fan, you're supposed to hate Indiana, but I never have. And that 2002 Cinderella run was very gratifying, mainly because the Hoosier upset Duke in Rupp Arena during that tournament. As far as I'm concerned, that makes us "friends" for life.
JARED JEFFRIES WAS A STAR ON THAT 2002 INDIANA TEAM
But back to Jared Jeffries, who went from Indiana to a stellar career playing for the Houston Rockets and the New York Knicks. He has since retired; he is 41 years old, after all. And apparently he has an affinity for a certain iconic game show.
Actually, that answers what would have been my next question. What's a celebrity--and Jeffries absolutely is one--doing in Contestants' Row on The Price Is Right? Because he WANTED to be on The Price Is Right...and he always has. He's always had it on his bucket list, and now he can check it off.
ISN'T JARED JEFFRIES TOO BIG TO FIT INSIDE A COMPACT CAR?
What's more, he got up on stage and WON A CAR playing the One Away game. But here's the rub. He can't fit inside of it. Here he is discussing his dilemma with CNN:
According to FOX19 NOW-Cincinnati, Jeffries once had to sit sideways in the backseat in order to fit inside Uber driver's car. And guess what. THAT car and the one he won on The Price Is Right are both Toyota Corollas. And I don't think Toyota has made one you can drive from the backseat while sitting sideways, but I'd have to check.
Regardless, a big congratulations to Jared Jeffries. I don't know if he even needs a car; he said he just wanted to win something on a show he's always loved.
I guess to him, a Corolla is like a go-cart to the rest of us.
