When Benton Frisse began blacksmithing back in 2012, I'm sure he never imagined that one day he would be demonstrating his skills on national TV. At that time, blacksmithing was kind of a niche trade, and part of a small community.

Blacksmithing has really grown in popularity in the last few years thanks, in part, to Forged in Fire. The History Channel program features four blacksmiths creating custom-made knives for a chance to win the $10,000 grand prize. Forged in Fire, now in its 6th season, continues to grow in popularity, as does the skill of making knives.

Back to Benton - imagine his surprise for folks from the History Channel contacted him about appearing on the show. Next thing you know Benton is on a plane, flying out to film his episode. Now we just have to wait and watch to see how Benton did. His episode of Forged in Fire airs this Wednesday, August 28th at 8pm on the History Channel.

We had the chance to talk to Benton about his experience on the show, including some cool insight about fan favorite judge Doug Marcaida and the show's dashing host Wil Willis. Check out Benton's interview below along with a preview of his episode. By the way, Benton is the blonde guy.
