Since the COVID-19 pandemic took over our lives, I have been doing my show from home. Not only because I am old and frail, but mainly because my son is immune compromised. I’m doing everything I can to protect him and keep him safe from this virus. But, the virus isn’t the only ting to be affair of, NO, we also need to fear the MURDER HORNETS. Right? Well, kinda.

The other day, I'm my kitchen doing kitchen stuff, when my son comes running down the hallway. He was literally high-stepping like some football warm-up exercise, with that or he was walking on hot coals. He screaming in pain. I couldn't imagine what was happening.

When he got to the kitchen, he sat down on the floor and held onto his foot. He told me he been bitten or stung by something. I immediately ran down the hallway to see what was in his room. When I open the door there was something really big on the carpet. Apparently, he stepped on it, but since his room is so dark like his teenage personality, I had to go get a flashlight. Without a flashlight, at first glance, it looked like a big giant spider.  But. as I walked closer and shined the flashlight on the culpret, I saw what look like an ASIAN MURDER HORNET.

I couldn't believe it. I had written article about the murder hornets and how they're probably not going to get  here because right now they're only in Canada and out west.  I thought. OMG, what am I going to do? I thought about my article and why you were supposed to do if you find one. You are supposed to call your state department of agriculture and tell him that you think you've just found an Asian Murder Hornet. So, that's what I did. I called Tammy with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.

Tammy told me that every if the bug resembled an Asian Murder Hornet, it probably wasn’t. But, she couldn’t rule out the possiblity. She asked me to send her a coulee pictures, just to be sure. After seeing the pics I sent her, she confirmed it was NOT an Asian Murder Hornet but it was, in fact, a European Hornet. She also told me that because for our very mild Winter, there are more of them this year. People are seeing them everywhere. My Facebook friends in Evansville, Central and Northern Indiana have see them too

Of course, I had to find out more about this European hornet. Would he have a French accent? Would he cook delicious sweet dessert? Maybe tell us stories of his homeland? Or, was he just a smooth talker with a sting of sarcasm in his voice?

I had find out more about this little devil and how he differs form the murderous villain hornet fro Asia. Here is how to tell them apart.

Asian Murder Hornet VS European Hornet

This video has a lot more info and you will see that although very dangerous and mean if provoked (stepped on LOL), they are quite elegant and beautiful. Until they fly, then it's like a fat helicopter trying to take off. Amazing, really. Watch.
