You Need To Try This New Grocery Shopping Hack
The Grocery Shopping Method I Tried on a Whim… and Now Swear By
I saw this grocery shopping method floating around on social media and thought, "Okay, I’ll try the trend once and see what it does for me. Fast forward to now it’s officially a lifestyle. I don’t think I can go back and honestly I think it might be able to help you out too.
Let's Be Real
Grocery shopping is kind of stressful these days. Prices are up, the total climbs faster than you expect, and suddenly you’re questioning every item you put in the cart. I used to shop just for myself, but now I live with someone else (a man who somehow eats twice as much as I do) so grocery runs have to become a bit more… strategic.
One habit I’ve really wanted to break is buying “sit on the couch and binge” food. Don’t get me wrong, a bag of chips can be fun. But do I really need cereal, peanut butter bars, three different kinds of chips, AND Goldfish in one haul? If you have kids, maybe. In my case, it usually just leads to an upset stomach and that heavy, sluggish feeling afterward.
And since we’re already into February, summer is creeping up faster than we’d like to admit. I’ve got some goals I want to hit before then, so I decided to give this method a real shot.
Here’s how it works:
You shop for 5 vegetables, 4 proteins, 3 fruits, 2 carbs, and 1 treat.
That’s it.
I went to the Schnucks right by my house and loaded up for the week. I stuck mostly to the list, with a few small deviations so I could make meals I’d already been planning in my head. For two people, I ended up with about two weeks’ worth of healthy essentials food that actually supports my goals and the total came out to around $124.
Less stress, fewer impulse buys, and way more intention. Try this grocery hack and see if it works for you and your family or if you have any grocery shopping hacks/tips let me know those too!
