Evansville Offers FREE City Bus Rides on Election Day

Tuesday, November 5th is an important day for all Americans. It's election day, and all registered voters are encouraged to let their voices be heard by getting to the polls and casting their votes. Officials in cities throughout the Tri-State are trying to eliminate one particular hurdle that might prevent someone from voting - not having a ride.

Free METS Rides in Evansville

The City of Evansville is partnering with METS and AARP Indiana to provide free bus rides on Election Day. On November 5th, residents will be able to ride a METS bus at no cost to one of the 22 polling places in Evansville, thanks to a sponsorship by AARP Indiana.

We know that there are many residents across Evansville who can’t to make it to a polling place on Election Day because they do not have reliable transportation to get there. By offering free bus rides on Election Day, we can remove that barrier and ensure that those residents have the opportunity to use their voices at the voting booth.

METS invites everyone, especially those who have NOT ridden a METS bus or have not ridden in a while, to take advantage of this opportunity. METS officials want to remind us that the use of public transportation eases traffic congestion, and overall emission output, and reduces the overall cost per trip.
