Flood Watch in Effect for the Entire Tri-State Until Early Friday

One week ago the entire Tri-State was caught in the icy grip of a Wind Chill Advisory, facing "feels-like" temperatures of anywhere from 10 to 20 degrees BELOW zero. Oh, how times have changed.

Fast forward to today, again only seven days after those bone-chilling temperatures, and we're looking at Spring-like temperatures in the low 60's and so much rain we may need to round up every animal, two-by-two, and climb aboard the LST 325.

In all seriousness, we'll see so much rain between now and Thursday evening (three to four inches to be exact), the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flood Watch beginning at Noon today until midnight on Friday. And if that's not enough, a majority of the Tri-State is under a Marginal Risk for severe weather later this afternoon.

EVENING...

.Numerous disturbances aloft will move over a surface frontal
boundary, and interact with copious moisture to result in several
periods of showers and scattered thunderstorms late today through
Thursday. The resulting heavy rain will likely lead to flooding
and possibly flash flooding.

EVENING...

The Flood Watch is now in effect for

* All of southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, southwest Indiana
and western Kentucky.

* From noon CST today through Thursday evening.

* Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to result in rain totals
from 2 to 4 inches. Locally higher amounts cannot be ruled out.

* The heavy rain will likely result in flooding of low lying and
poor drainage areas, in addition to rising water levels on
area rivers, creeks, and streams. Water levels are already
elevated along the Ohio and Wabash rivers. Localized flash
flooding cannot be ruled out with scattered thunderstorms
producing heavier rainfall rates.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
