Fair Trade Soiree V-Day Shopping
Support fair trade products and just in time for Valentine's Day!
Fair trade is a global movement that brings attention to people around the world who work under exploitative conditions. Individuals that make and sell in "fair trade" are being paid a fair wage for their product which allows them to better provide for their family. I love buying fair trade items and not only it is a good civic service, the items are beautiful and so well made.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 8, Old North Fair Trade Market is hosting their 4th annual fair trade jewelry/chocolate soiree just in time for Valentines’ Day. Shop fair trade jewelry, coffees and cocoas from 5:00 to 8:00 pm in Fellowship Hall at Old North United Methodist Church, 4201 Stringtown Road, Evansville.
Countries represented this year include Kenya, South Africa, Ecuador, Guatemala, Peru, India, Mexico and more.
Fair trade artisans work under fair trade conditions which include fair and prompt payments, safe and empowering working conditions, ensured children’s rights, transparent relationships, and the cultivation of environmental stewardship. Fair trade serves as a pathway out of abject poverty often enabling families to send their children to school. Additional fair trade information through www.fairtradefederation.org and www.wfto.com
Profits support local and global missions and needs. They have asked everyone to use the lower parking lot.
