Evansville Yard Sale Funds Clean Water Mission
The Turning Pointe Church on Evansville’s west side is hosting its annual yard sale that will include a wide variety of items, like baby items, clothing, furniture, tools, household goods, and more. Unlike most yard sales, this one isn't about getting rid of old things in order to make room for new things. This yard sale is all about raising money – not for the church, but for an organization called Agua Viva Serves that is saving lives in Costa Rica.
The two-day yard sale is happening from 6am-6pm on Friday, June 12th, and from 6am-1pm on Saturday, June 13th, and is open to everyone. The Turning Pointe Church is located at 9800 Middle Mt. Vernon Road in Evansville.
Agua Viva Gives the Gift of Clean Water
It's hard (I dare say impossible) for me to imagine not being able to get a drink of water any time I want. Whether I'm at work, at home, or at a friend's house, I assume that when I turn on a faucet, I can expect clean, safe, drinking water to come out - and that's the case for just about everyone reading this. That is NOT the case, however, for a lot of people around the world. Agua Viva (which literally means Living Water) is trying to do something about that.

Agua Viva Serves is a non-profit organization that works to provide clean, safe drinking water for rural areas of northern Costa Rica. This is done by drilling deep enough wells into the ground to reach sustainable, clean, safe water. They drilled their first well back in 2010, and it is still providing clean water today. In 2023, Agua Viva Serves completed its 100th successful well, a major milestone that has been years in the making. Each self-sustaining Community Water Project costs $50,000 and reaches over 600 people in need. Visit the Agua Viva Serves website to learn more or to donate directly to them.

Be a Part of This Life-Saving Partnership
The Turning Pointe Church has been a part of the Agua Viva Serves mission since 2017. Each year, they send a team of volunteers to Costa Rica to assist in laying water lines and building water towers, which they will do again this summer. The Turning Pointe will also donate all of the money raised from this year's yard sale to Agua Viva Serves.

Just know that a few minutes (or hours) browsing a yard sale this month could mean clean water for a family in Costa Rica for years to come. It doesn’t get more win-win than that!
