Evansville Resident Starts Backpack Program to Assist the Homeless
We see them walking the streets of downtown Evansville. We see them standing at the underpass where the Lloyd goes over Green River Road, hoping someone will be kind enough to roll down their window and hand them a few dollars so they can eat. How their lives came to these points is often unknown to the general public, but one Evansville resident is hoping the general public will help them get back on their feet.
The "Backpack Project of Evansville" was started by Kiza Sanchez with the goal being to collect donations of non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, first aid supplies, and more to fill backpacks that will be given to those in need. The crew at Evansville Watch were happy to help spread the word in a post Thursday evening.
If you'd like to make a donation, text Kiza at 812-266-1962, or by e-mail at kizawee@gmail.com.
