The decision to relocate the cross underscores the Evansville Rescue Mission's unwavering commitment to fostering spiritual growth and uplifting individuals through the message of hope and salvation.

Touching Tribute

In a heartfelt tribute to the late Rev. Steven Perry, the ERM's sixth president, a plaque will be placed at the base of the cross, honoring his pivotal role in overseeing the cross's restoration and placement back in the 1990s. Rev. Perry's profound impact on the organization and his relentless dedication to its mission have left an indelible mark on the Evansville Rescue Mission and the wider community.

Then & Now - Evansville's Washington Square Mall Through the Years

Evansville is home to a lot of unique buildings including the first enclosed retail shopping center in Indiana. Yes, our very own Washington Square Mall was the place to be when it opened in 1963. If you walk through the mall today, you would never guess how alive the shops were, even through the 1980s. Enjoy this walk down memory lane I've put together, and maybe someday there will be new life inside 5011 Washington Ave.
