Evansville Philharmonic Wraps Up Season With a Tribute to the Legendary Aretha Franklin
It's hard to believe that it has been nearly five years since Aretha Franklin passed away. It is also hard to believe that another season with the Evansville Philharmonic is coming to an end. Well, at least they are going out in style, with a tribute to the legendary Aretha Franklin.
Show Information
Aretha: A Tribute is scheduled for Saturday, May 13, at 7pm at the Victory Theatre in downtown Evansville. The show will obviously include music from Aretha Franklin, but you probably want to know a little bit more than that. Here's the official word from the Evansville Phailharmonic...
This program features symphony favorite and Broadway diva Capathia Jenkins and three-time Grammy Award nominee Ryan Shaw performing such iconic hits as Respect, A Natural Woman, Chain of Fools, I Say a Little Prayer, Unforgettable, I Feel Good, America the Beautiful, Isn't She Lovely, Amazing Grace, At Last, and many others during this glittering tribute to the Queen of Soul.
Adult tickets begin at $40 and can be purchased online here. Don't forget that, as always, STUDENTS GET IN FREE. Take advantage of this opportunity to see some amazingly talented musicians - it is most likely the last chance you'll have to see them until next season.
Speaking of Next Season...
Everyone needs a little time off, including the members of the Evansville Harmonic, but they will be back on stage before you know. Following a summer break, the music returns to the Victory Theatre on Saturday, September 30, with the 2023-24 season opener.
I have always been partial to the Pops series and I'm really looking forward to next season for these concerts in particular: Universe of Superheroes on October 14th, Back to the 80s on February 17th, and Simply Swingin' on March 17th. See the rest of next season's lineup here.
