If you have ever considered adopting a pet, then you should know that RIGHT NOW is absolutely the time to do it, because you’re not gonna find a better offer than this.

Why November Matters for Animal Shelters

November is officially Hoosier Adopt a Shelter Pet Month – and for the third year in a row, animal shelters and rescues across Indiana are teaming up to shine a big spotlight on pet homelessness and inspire our communities to step in and make a difference.

Evansville Shelters Need Our Help

Right here in Evansville, local shelters are seeing more animals come through their doors than ever before - and they could really use a boost from the community. Whether you adopt, foster, donate, or volunteer, every single effort helps save lives and give pets a chance at the loving homes they deserve.

And here’s the exciting part — some of your favorite local organizations are offering special adoption incentives this month!

Vanderburgh Humane Society & River Kitty Cat Café

From November 10th-16th, the Vanderburgh Humane Society is embracing the theme, “There’s no place like home,” and offering FREE adoptions for all dogs, cats, kittens, and rabbits. And don’t worry, these pets still come spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, plus a starter bag of food and pet health insurance incentives.
You’ll find over 300 pets waiting for you at VHS and another 29 cats and kittens chilling at River Kitty Cat Café downtown. Perfect weekend outing? We think yes.

Evansville Animal Care & Control

Evansville Animal Care & Control is planning its own adoption event November 17th-22nd, with details being shared soon on their Facebook page.

Right now, shelters across Indiana are full - not because they’re doing anything wrong, but because families everywhere are struggling with rising costs, housing limitations, and limited vet access. It’s tough out there. But this is something we can solve, together, as a community.

LOOK: Here are the pets banned in each state

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.

Read on to see which pets are banned in your home state, as well as across the nation.
