Put me in coach, I'm ready to play! I'm talking about wiffle ball yo! We all played it as kids, and now you can feel like a kid again for a good cause.

Golfmoor Baseball on Evansville's west side is organizing a wiffle ball tournament to raise funds for one of their own. Dwayne Brantley...you might know him as Big D, I refer to him as D-Wayne...has been a big part of Golfmoor and west side sports in general for a long time. Dwayne is a big dude with a big voice and a big presence. I'll be honest, I was intimidated by him at first, until I got to know him. Those that do know him, know he's a great guy that would do anything for ya.

Big D has been battling kidney issues for a few years now, and things just took a turn for the worse. He's been on a transplant list and has been doing dialysis for three years. Well now he's in the ICU, getting constant care as he tries to live with NO kidneys. You can imagine how difficult it is for his wife and two kids (one in middle school and one in high school) to see dad in this situation...hooked up to machines and tethered to his bed by so many tubes.

What can we do to help in this seemingly helpless situation? Well, we can certainly continue to pray that Dwayne finds a kidney donor. And we can have a blast playing wiffle ball while raising money for Dwayne's family. The tournament is scheduled for August 24th and 25th at the Golfmoor baseball fields. Teams of 6 are invited to play for $120 per team (that's only $20 per person...math). Proceeds will go to the Brantley family to help with travel expenses, medical expenses and anything else they need. The team that wins the tourney winner will receive their entry fee back.
