Firefighters arrived to find flames visible from the “B” side of the structure. An initial interior attack and search for occupants were quickly conducted, but deteriorating conditions forced crews to transition to a defensive approach. After approximately 40 minutes, firefighters reentered the building to address hidden flames and complete their work.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no one was inside the restaurant or its four apartments at the time of the fire. One person was displaced due to the damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with no indications of criminal activity at this time.
Mo’s House Steps Up to Support Sauced Staff
As Sauced begins the difficult process of recovery, their neighbors at Mo’s House, a popular cocktail lounge in Haynie’s Corner, have launched an initiative to help. The team at Mo’s House set up a Venmo account @MOSHOUSE812 to raise funds for Sauced staff, who are temporarily out of work.
"Let’s get the ball rolling on helping the crew over there while they’re out of jobs," Mo’s House shared in a social media post. The community is already rallying to show support, exemplifying the strong ties that define Haynie’s Corner.
A Historic Building with a Resilient Community
The fire at Sauced has left a visible mark on Haynie’s Corner, a district known for its vibrant arts scene and historic architecture. While the building’s future remains uncertain, the outpouring of support from the Evansville community proves that even in times of hardship, neighbors come together to lift each other up.
Beware of Fraudulent Accounts
The Venmo for the @comegetsaucedevv employees is @moshouse812. Make sure if you are donating to their crew that you are following the QR code to the correct Venmo. The dashes are other accounts that have been made. These are not accounts that have associations with the Sauced staff.
