Based on social media feedback, there are a number of reasons why this and other restaurants have closed in Southern Indiana.

A Growing Trend of Restaurant Closures

Biscuit Belly's closure is not an isolated incident. Numerous restaurants in Southern Indiana have faced similar fates, sparking concern among residents and food enthusiasts alike. Based on social media feedback, several factors contribute to this unfortunate trend.

"Never even heard of this place." Josh Gman

If you own any type of business, you have to make sure the public knows that you exist. It is not enough to simply have a Facebook page and hope for the best.

"Overpriced. Yes, all restaurants are overpriced for what you could make at home for far less money, but you can’t charge exceptional food prices for food that is just good (not great)." Jill McDaniel

Operating a restaurant involves significant costs, from rent and utilities to wages and food supplies. In recent years, these costs have steadily increased, putting pressure on small businesses. Sometimes this means finding cheaper ingredients and changing the quality of the food.

"The food when they first opened was delicious. But then they started using cheaper ingredients, particularly horrible bacon, and we stopped going. Also, they closed the drive-thru." Ashley McReynolds

Customer Service, Staffing, and Consistency

These are some of the common denominators of the restaurants that have closed recently. Poor customer service, the lack of dependable employees, and cutting staff because of slow business are huge factors in the closures. But consistency is also so important. Not just in the product, but also in the store hours.

In my opinion, Southern Indiana restaurant patrons are very discerning in their food spending. There are several things I see as a must to make it in this area. They are valued for your money, it had better be good and clean, consistent and reasonable service. I believe most of us are willing to pay an upward amount if these few things align. Becky Gilles
