Evansville Church to Host Saturday Yard Sale to Raise Money for Youth Mission Trip
I think it's safe to say that yard sale season is here, and I also think it's safe to say that Evansville and the Tri-State are ready. I don't know if yard sales (or garage sales if you prefer) as popular in other parts of the country, but here in southern Indiana, it's a big deal. People go nuts for them, don't they?
This weekend, you are invited to a special yard sale on Evansville's west side. It will take place in the 'yard' of The Turning Pointe United Methodist Church (located at 9800 Middle Mt. Vernon Road) this Saturday, May 1st from 7am-12n. Full disclosure - The Turning Pointe is my church, so I might be just a wee bit biased about this particular event.
Most will likely consider The Turning Pointe to be a small church, and I don't think you'll get any argument from its members - but their size doesn't stop them from doing BIG things. One area, in particular, that The Turning Pointe is extra proud of is its mission efforts, here in the states and in other countries.
During a 'normal' year, The Turning Pointe would be preparing to send a group of adults and young people to Costa Rica to help provide clean, safe, and easily accessible drinking water to those in need. It's an amazing, exhausting, life-changing experience for those who volunteer their services. This is certainly not a 'normal' time, and unfortunately, the Costa Rica trip has been canceled - but the people who live there still need that life-saving water, so we're gonna try and help with money raised at this yard sale. Money from the yard sale will also help pay for another mission trip the youth group plans to take down to Louisiana this summer.
This Saturday is supposed to be an absolutely beautiful day - perfect for a yard sale - so grab some shades, put on some comfy shoes, and get ready to do some bargain hunting for a great cause.
