Did You Know A Major Scene From ‘A League of Their Own’ Was Filmed In Boonville?

Everyone knows that "A League of Their Own" was filmed at historic Bosse Field in Evansville, Indiana but did you know that the film was also shot in Boonville?
One day, my friend Derek and I were driving on Yankeetown Road in Boonville. Out of nowhere, he said "It's pretty cool that we are driving on the same road that Tom Hanks has been on."

I had no idea what he was talking about when he said that. Then, he told me that one of the most memorable scenes from  "A League of Their Own" was shot on that road. I have lived in Boonville the majority of my life and had no idea, so naturally, I thought he was lying. However, after a bit of research, I learned that it was indeed true.

Do you remember the scene where the kid eating chocolate covers up the bus driver's face while driving and he pulls to the side of the road to quit? Well, that scene was filmed on Yankeetown Road in Boonville.

The scene was filmed just south of Addington Road. One key feature that I noticed was the train bridge in the background of the scene that still stands today.

How I didn't know about this is beyond me! It's pretty cool to know that Boonville has a nice little claim to fame.Of course, Evansville and Boonville weren't the only filming locations in the Tri-State. The movie was also filmed in Huntingburg, Mount Vernon, and Henderson.
