Castle Marching Knights Make Top 10 at Bands of America Competition
The Bands of America Grand National high school marching band competition was held this weekend at the Lucas Oil Stadium with 50 bands from all over the USA. Three schools from Indiana made the Top 10 and Castle HS clenched a 1st time National title!
The Bands of America competition is a three day event that began November 9 - 11.
According to a press release from the Castle High School Band Directors, Tom Dean and Mark Eiffler:
Castle performed a highly emotional show at the Saturday Semi-Finals Competition that impressed the national panel of judges. Later on that afternoon, it was announced that the performance resulted in Castle being awarded the Class 3A National Championship Title, which is a first for the Castle Marching Knights. Class 3A is for all high schools in the nation with enrollment of up to 1,700 students in grades 10-12. In capturing the 2017 Class 3A National Championship, Castle swept the three judging categories with the highest scores in Music, Visual presentation, and overall General Effect. Their score of 92.625 was an improvement over their Grand National Championship final score from 2016 and represented their highest point score in the school’s history.Castle was not done, however, in winning over the judges or the crowd. Soon after winning its national title, the high school bands were then selected to participate in the Grand National Championship finals that evening which consisted of the top twelve marching bands in the nation no matter what class size.
Congratulations to the Castle High School Marching Knights placing 1st in Class 3A National Championship Title and 8th place in the national finals.
