Southern Indiana 'Hidden Gem' Restaurant Announces New Owners

You might remember that back in September of 2024, the future of the beloved Carriage Inn restaurant was kind up in the air. The Carriage Inn is located on East Gibson Street in the very small town of Haubstadt, Indiana. The building itself was built in the early 1900s and that is where the horses stayed.

Owners Cindy and Chris Scheller were on the hunt for a new owner to continue the legacy of this charming establishment. They are moving on to the next chapter of their life, so selling was not for the lack of business.

Known for its great service and delicious food, Carriage Inn has been a staple in the community for nearly fifty years. The Schellers have taken great pride in the restaurant and now they have found a family who will continue not only the legacy, but the homemade recipes, and excellent service.

Meet Kyle and Emily Rexing

The Carriage Inn has been a staple in the community of Haubstadt for many years. The goal for Chris and I, over the past year, was to find the perfect buyers who would continue the tradition of offering great food while focusing on providing all customers with a great dining experience that made it feel like "home". We are excited to turn over our sweet little gem to Kyle and Emily Rexing on Monday, March 3, 2025. They have strong, local roots and understand the importance of community. They plan to continue the tradition of Carriage Inn by focusing on food service, catering, and bar service. We are so excited to see what this energetic, young couple can do with the Carriage Inn. Chris and I would like to thank you for all of your support over the years and ask that you continue to patronize the Carriage Inn and support the Rexings on this journey. They will honor gift cards and plan to spend the first year sailing the ship as it has been! We also want thank the awesome staff who make this place what it is! The Rexings are inheriting a great group of people who are committed to Carriage Inn and this community- they are the backbone!
