Callie’s Craft Corner: Putting My Pets to Work for Episode 3
Four Pets, Two Flower Pots and a Whole lot of Trial and Error
These episodes are coming and going so quickly, and I’m not mad about it because I have a lot of ideas when it comes to being creative and making stuff!
This episode, I am making one for me and one as a gift.
I am hoping that you have listened to me enough to know that I am a cat mom of two, and those little fur babies are my world. I also like to try and keep plants alive. I have a plant from my Aunt Shirley’s funeral that I have kept alive for over a year and a half, and I’m pretty proud about that!
When I keep the plants alive, I give myself the excuse of getting another one.
Well, I am also dog sitting at the moment, and the lady I am dog sitting for has two dogs. One of the puppies' birthdays is actually today while she is gone, so I thought it would be fun to use her pets AND my pets to create Episode 3 of Callie’s Craft Corner.
Two Flower Pots, Four Pets and One Person
First off, let me say that I am doing two pots: one for me and one for the lady I am dog sitting for.
And, no, we will not be doing them at the same time or place because somehow I get the feeling that two dogs and two cats trying to paint flower pots with one person would not end up going well.
I know my limits.

What I Used for This Craft
This is something I have wanted to do for a while, so I got the pots from Home Depot already, and they were about $3 and some change per pot.
I ordered some patio paint on amazon to paint the flower pots because acrylic paint would not last as long, especially in the weather. The total of the paint and flower pots was $36.
Then I just used the paintbrushes, a cup of water, and paper plates that I already had to do this craft.
I would say this is a pretty cost-effective craft to make, especially since I made two of them, and it is sentimental because you can do it with a pet's paw print or even a child's handprint. Plus, it becomes the new home for your plant!
Now Comes the Hard Part...
The main challenge in doing this craft and I’m sure you can imagine was trying to get the animals to stay still long enough to paint their paws and place them where they would look like flowers on the pot.
Some of them really don’t look like flowers.
But that's okay! The whole point of this series is trial and error, and we will have some errors for sure. It’s the thought that counts!

And honestly, that is part of what makes these pots special. They don't have to be perfect. The whole point is that those little paw prints belong to pets that mean a lot to us, and now we have something we can keep long after the flowers or plants inside change.
Plus, after attempting to paint multiple animal paws, I think I deserve another plant anyway.
