Some companies reward their employees with donuts or free lunch. At Townsquare Media, we are treated to chair massages from Bodyworks Massage Therapy & Institute.

Sure, it would be easy to put a box of treats in the break room and call it a reward, but the chair massages serve more than one purpose. After a relaxing 15 minute massage, we can go back in the studio feeling more alert and ready to be creative.

"My first experience with massage was the chair massages from Bodyworks, and I can't believe it took me so long to try one. I'm able to completely relax, so I can focus on the rest of my day." ~ Bobby G.

"I actually come up with some of my best ideas during and after my chair massage from Bodyworks. I literally run to the sign up sheet, so I can reserve my 'Me time' " ~ Liberty

When we are stressed out, we are not going to be giving our all at work. Just 15 minutes of massage are beneficial during the workday. According to Bodyworks Massage Therapy & Institute, there has been actual research about the subject:

  • A 10-15 minute chair massage can decrease job stress, increase alertness and speed and accuracy on the job.
  • Office workers who receive chair massage regularly were more alert, performed better and were less stressed than those who did not receive massage.
  • Over 50% of lost work days are stress related.
  • Health care expenses are nearly 50% greater for workers reporting high levels of stress.
  • 40% of job turnover is due to stress.
  • Up to 90% of all visits to primary care physicians are for stress-related complaints.
  • Stress accounts for $26 billion in medical and disability payments and $95 billion in lost productivity per year.

When the exceptional massage therapists from Bodyworks arrive, they set up their massage chairs in a quiet studio. They need a bit of space to move around the chair, too. The ambiance is very relaxing, with the low lights and soothing music. Even the smell of the studio is soothing, with essential oils. The therapists are always very attentive and will customize our massages, depending on what we need that day.
