This week’s pet star is none other than BETTY WHITE, and just like her iconic namesake, she’s full of personality, charm, and a little bit of sass! She is available now for adoption at It Takes a Village.

BETTY WHITE is a 2-year-old German Shepherd mix who is always up for a game of fetch, a romp in the snow, or some serious stair-climbing cardio (her foster says she takes stair aerobics to a whole new level!). She is a sweetheart who also has a soft, snuggly side. She loves belly rubs (who doesn't?) and curling up next to you on the couch for some quality cuddle time.

BETTY WHITE is as beautiful as she is smart. She does well in her crate, and is always eager to be part of the action. If you’re ready to add this sweet lady to your home, head over to ITVrescue.org to fill out an application. A meet-and-greet with other pups is recommended to make sure it’s a perfect match.

If our pet of the week isn’t the right fit for your home, please visit It Takes a Village to see the other rescues that need to get fostered and adopted. And don't forget about their RENT A DOG Program. A quick fill form and copy of your photo ID will allow you time out with one of ITV's vetted shelter dogs. These day dates are great for the rescues - it gets them some exercise and new information to help us get them adopted. It’s been a big hit- so don’t miss out!

LOOK: Here are the pets banned in each state

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.

Read on to see which pets are banned in your home state, as well as across the nation.
